Do you have pain that is now constant or keeps recurring?

Whilst we know 80% of us will get back pain at some time in our life, 80% of those go on to get recurring back pain. This progressively gets worse until such time when you struggle to remember what it was like to be pain free, have a good nights sleep or to get through the day without painkillers.

 

Solution

So what happens with pain? You have an injury or incident. You get the symptom relief and feel much better. Those of you who get that recurring problem then fall into the trap of getting just symptom relief. You get painkillers or soft tissue work, or treatment that deals with your current symptoms which achieves short term relief and the cycle starts again.

Traditional treatments involve settling down the pain, treating the presenting symptoms either through medication, allied health care practitioners and then hopefully getting some relief for the client.

What about finding a LONG TERM MANAGEMENT SOLUTION that actually looks at WHAT IS CAUSING the problem and addressing that.

What about fixing the actually underlying problem so the symptoms either become fully managed or recur with less frequency and intensity?

In order to achieve that you need to take control you need some self-management strategies that work.

 

Most of our clients can get some sort of relief after 1-3 sessions even if they have been in pain for years. Liken it to spending all day bending your finger back, it will hurt , and by the end of the day its gonna hurt like hell. What if we then pointed out that’s what you are doing every day with how you stand, how you move, how you function is potentially doing just that. Placing constant stress and strain on your tissues, causing you to rely more heavily on some and losing the ability to use or even activate others.

That’s where we can make a BIG difference. A full biomechanical assessment of how you move, function, activate muscle and also how your body in turn reacts, mixed with the traditional measures of what is stiff, tight, weak etc., it all moulds together to give a good picture that we can then work with and educate you in a way you can comprehend and understand.

Think of a wheel on a car . Uneven wear causes a puncture. If you fix the puncture but don’t bother with a wheel alignment , you’re gonna have another problem soon.

Fix the puncture and do a wheel alignment and that tyre is good to go for a lot longer before a problem arises.

Teach you how to check that alignment regularly and what to do when it starts to go wrong and you have a winning combination. YOU have control. YOU have your own toolkit and know what to do to make your own adjustments at home.

 

The core fusion difference

We know a full accurate assessment is key.

Our full assessment takes an hour. We take a complete history, getting an idea what has helped, what hasn’t and why, and also what your expectations are and whether we can meet them so your get what you want out of this.

We look at your movement, function, muscle strength and length, biomechanics, posture, muscle imbalances , core strength and anything that may be relevant such as work posture, stress etc.

We look at you as a whole and manage you that way – that’s how we get results. You are not just a body part with lower back pain on the right. We will assess how that has a knock on effect and if it’s a result of an actual loading problem on the left which then causes right sided pain. If you manage the left and the right side disappears.

Many will have poor posture and poor core strength but also not know what to do about it. We structure our way of working so you work with us to get the best results possible. You will do clinical Pilates for an hour each visit so we can educate and restore movement and function and give you the means to continue with it at home.

We want to spread the word that it actually works and has lasting long term benefits and of course you as the client are the main beneficiary. We want you to get better and to offer a long term solution. We thrive on getting you a better night’s sleep, on reduced medication, back to work or sport and back to a healthier more functional life. Break the vicious cycle of pain, inactivity, fear of movement and decreased strength.

We work with all manner of clients from the chronic long term back pain to the acutely injured sports person wanting to get back to competition quickly or at a higher performance level.

Of our 5 current physios, 3 hold a masters post grad qualification and we have over 60 years combined experience on board.
