Why I Love Pilates for Posture

My posture 13 years ago was abysmal. I didn’t notice at first how bad it had got until I couldn’t reach our over head cupboards…. My husband and I are both tall so our cups are in the cupboard over our fridge. It was gradually getting harder to reach into that cupboard but I didn’t really notice ( or pay too much attention to it!) until one day it dawned on me. My posture had gotten SO bad that I could no longer get my arm to fully extend up! Hilarious really. As a physio I should know better. Sometime we just don’t ‘see’ the wood for the trees. After 15 years in the business, all day spend leaning over a bed to treat people, a new baby demanding attention andĀ  I suddenly found myself looking like the hunch backĀ  of Notre Dame.
