What is Clinical Pilates?

One of the biggest questions we get asked is What is Clinical Pilates?

Clinical Pilates with a physio refers to us looking at you and assessing you completely with how your body is at present, pain levels, function levels and posture as well as what may be going on to influence that such as weak muscles, muscle imbalance or tightness of either joints or soft tissue.

We then work out what the best way forward is to address that – whether hands on intervention etc is warranted or whether we need to get you moving in a specific way to get the best results fast.

It’s not just a case of blindly doing stuff – its calculated and specific to what you need, and will address MANY issues that are occurring in your body.

Poor feet posture may lead to ankle , knee, hip and back pain.

Back pain may cause you to walk differently leading to hip knee and foot pain

So which do you manage – the foot or the back? Which will get you the ‘key’ in quickly ?

That’s our area of expertise – alongside knowing the clinical components of how your tissues will react depending on where they are in their healing process – so we know how far we can push you – or when to protect you, or when you are at risk of further damage.

For example – if you have poor posture and that leads to back pain – we need to know why. – we know your back hurts – we need to know what is going on, such as –

  • is it a loading issue where you are putting too much strain or stress on for too long?
  • A fatigue issue, where muscles are weaker or can’t sustain the activity you are doing?
  • Are some muscles dominant and others weak?
  • Is there inflammation there, or just chronic issues we can work through.

This is what we offer – the key to getting you the best results.

You need to be aware of the WHY in order to get the results you desire.

We have limited appoitments available as we fill up fast – but if you think you need to make head way and haven’t got the results you require as yet – you may be tackling the issue from the wrong angle.

Give us a call – we may just change your life.
