What you didn’t know about Core Strength.
Core strength comes from the deep posture muscles, not the superficial six pack which MOVE the body not SUPPORT the body.
Many people are under the misconception that a great six pack equals a great core – and that is so far from the truth… they are not created equal!
Whilst you can have a six pack and a strong core – yes – you can also have a strong core WITHOUT a six pack, and a six pack WITHOUT a strong core…. crazy right?
Many of us envy the cut abs, and the toned flat stomach – yet so many have ‘weak cores’ to go with that – and why? because the focus has been on those superficial six pack muscles, whilst not using or working the ‘deep core’ muscles.
Notice how body builders and gym goers who push weights end up looking quite stiff and robotic?
That’s because the focus is on the muscles that MOVE our body and joints – the big mover muscles that define and sculpt us.
The deeper core muscles – you can’t see them – and they work in a different way – to support and elongate the body – hence why you look leaner and taller – where gym building with weights tends to cause compression and shortening of the muscles – the complete opposite.
So unless you do a dedicated CORE workout that is specific to the deep support muscles – not just crunches – then the support core can be fundamentally weak…and not functioning as it should.
This is also the reason why when you go about doing crunches and sit ups you never get that flat tummy – you have two different styles – crunches and ‘core crunches -which are actually ‘lifts’.
There’s a whole world of difference between the two and a whole world of difference in the results!
